Google vs Microsoft

Draw your own conclusions regarding significance, but I note two well-known, well-publicized hires during the last week or so, one at Google, one at Microsoft.  I see one company striving to build the future with innovation and research and the other particularly concerned with denigrating its competitors.   Just sayin'

Google hires Ray Kurzweil to work on language processing and artificial intelligence.

Microsoft hires Mark Penn, noted political brawler, to attack its competitors with PR releases and commercials.  http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/15/technology/microsoft-battles-google-by-hiring-political-brawler-mark-penn.html
